Girne American University Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts and Nurel Group of Companies are jointly organizing a student design competition entitled "GREEN & CYPRIOT: INNOVATIVE IDEAS FOR A GREEN KYRENIA - SUSTAINABLE WORKPLACE DESIGN" for the design of Nurel Group of Companies' Headquarters building in Kyrenia, with a special focus on ecological sustainability and energy conservation issues.

The competition aims at raising awareness of environmental issues in the field of architecture and design in Northern Cyprus, both in professional means and in architectural education field, through a special focus on green architecture philosophy and principles. It also aims at encouraging students to develop innovative design solutions that interweave the use of local resources and materials with the latest technologies and design approaches within a local context.

Competition is open to all architecture students, studying in the universities of Northern Cyprus. Students can participate as individuals or as groups. Students studying interior design, civil engineering and mechanical engineering can also participate as parts of groups, which are led by architecture students. Participation is free of charge.

The deadline for registration for the competition is 01.04.2013. Projects' submission deadline and is 06.05.2013, till 17:00. The results will be announced on 13.05.2013. The date of the colloquium which be held at GAU Kyrenia campus will be announced later on the web sites.
