GAU’S SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM IS GETTING READY FOR THE 2019 CHAMPIONSHIP  

 

The Girne American University’s (GAU) Search and  Rescue Club (AKUT) is getting ready for the championships.

 

The International University’s Search and Rescue games, that GAU organises regularly as a tradition, started their education at Guvenpark.

 

As The Girne American University, who became the 2018 International Universiy`s champion, is getting ready for the championships with The Head of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management Department, Prof.Dr.Günhan Erdem, who will be representing the institution and the students.

 

Prof.Dr.Günhan Erdem said:

“As the Search and Rescue Team of GAU, this year our aim is to protect our championship in The International University’s Search and Rescue games and to become first again, like last year. The first place position that we achieved last year was at an international level. We competed with teams from Turkey and other countries and became first.”

 

Mr.Erdem; who mentioned that he was the main backbone in last year’s and this year’s team said; “We protected this main backbone and we prepared with one or two reinforcements. As we were getting ready for the competitions, we worked on stages among ourselves, with our own possibilities and with our own effort. We also took part in the educations organised by Nicosia’s Head of Civil Defence Organization.”

 

The General Secretary of GAU, Halil Bardak, and The General Secretary Assistant, Tunç Cavcav, paid a visit to the students and educators who are headed towards the International University’s Search and Rescue Games championship and wished them luck.
