Space Sciences Education Begins at GAU

GAU cooperates with Kazakhstan Universities for Space Sciences and Astronomy Department

Girne American University (GAU) 2014/2015 Academic year, in which it celebrated its 30th year, has added another to its academic cooperation and new departments.

 

Under the chairmanship of GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar with the GAU scientific committee consisting of Board of Administrators - Vice Chancellor - Olgun Üstün and Founding Dean of the Faculty of Medicine - Dr. Ferhat Erişir, made important connections in their visit to Kazakhstan. The committee came together and made important connections with leading organizations and institutions of Kazakhstan for the opening of the GAU Space Science and Astronomy Department.

 

GAU Science committee visited Kazakhstan’s leading educational institutions accompanied by Girne American University Kazakhstan Representative - Prof. Dr. Yerden Kazhybek and Nazarbayev University Rector Prof. Chief Advisor - Dr. Bolat Myrzaliev and made cooperation agreements for the Space Science and Astronomy Department, which is to be opened.

Making important statements about the subject, GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators - Serhat Akpınar stated that with Science’s universal power and the scientific productions unshakeable will and faith, Girne American University’s global scientific family has signed protocols for the creation of the TRNC’s first Space Sciences and Astronomy Department.

 

Akpınar stated that they have made wide range contacts in Kazakhstan, one of the world’s leading countries in Space Sciences and Astronomy Education, stating that with institutions and organizations they are taking the necessary steps to make the TRNC and GAU the centre of Space Sciences and Astronomy and added that the process will begin with the Spring Semester, 2015.
