APSY701 Statistics and Research Techniques for Social Sciences I

Statistics and Research Techniques for Social Sciences I is a foundational course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of statistical analysis and research methodologies commonly employed in social sciences. This course equips students with the necessary skills to critically evaluate and conduct research studies, collect and analyze data, and draw meaningful conclusions in the field of social sciences. Throughout the course, students will explore fundamental statistical concepts, including descriptive and inferential statistics, probability theory, and sampling techniques. Students will learn how to design research studies, formulate research questions, select appropriate data collection methods, and analyze the data using statistical software.

 

APSY702   Psychopathology and Differential Diagnoses I

 Psychopathology and Differential Diagnoses I is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of abnormal psychological disorders and the process of differential diagnosis. The course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and differentiate various mental health conditions based on their symptoms, etiology, and diagnostic criteria. Throughout this course, students will delve into the fascinating world of psychopathology, exploring the underlying causes, symptoms, and behavioral manifestations of a wide range of psychological disorders. By examining case studies, real-life examples, and current research, students will gain insights into the complexities of human behavior and mental health. The course emphasizes the importance of accurate and precise differential diagnosis in the field of psychology.


APSY708   Psychopathology and Differential Diagnoses II

 Psychopathology and Differential Diagnoses II is an advanced course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mental disorders and the process of differential diagnosis. Building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Psychopathology and Differential Diagnoses I, this course delves deeper into the complexities of psychopathology, equipping students with the skills necessary to accurately identify and differentiate between various psychological disorders. Throughout this course, students will explore a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, substance-related disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. The course emphasizes a holistic approach to understanding psychopathology, considering biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to the development and manifestation of mental disorders.

 

APSY710 Statistics and Research Techniques for Social Sciences II

Statistics and Research Techniques for Social Sciences II is an advanced course designed to deepen your understanding of statistical analysis and research methods in the context of social sciences. Building upon the foundational concepts covered in Statistics and Research Techniques for Social Sciences I, this course focuses on more complex statistical models and their application in social science research. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:Multivariate Analysis: Explore the concepts and techniques involved in analyzing multiple variables simultaneously, such as multiple regression, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling. Learn how to identify and interpret relationships among variables in complex social phenomena.Advanced Experimental Design, Nonparametric Statistics and Applied Data Analysis using softwares. 

 

APSY703 Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapies I

Topics are related to in-depth application of cognitive psychological approaches in therapy. The courses include topics such as problem solving, memory, training and learning, spatial cognition, and social information processing.


APSY 706  Interviewing Techniques

In this course students will learn about clinical interviewing strategies through exposure to these methods: in the readings, in class discussions, and in experience with role-playing. This course provides students with an understanding of:  Counselor characteristics and behaviors that influence helping processes including age, gender, ethnic differences, verbal and nonverbal behaviors, personal characteristics and orientations, and skills.   Essential interviewing and counseling skills that enable them to develop a therapeutic relationship, establish appropriate counseling goals, and design intervention strategies.

 

APSY711 Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapies

Cognitive Behavioural Group Therapies is a comprehensive course designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the principles, techniques, and applications of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in a group setting. Throughout this course, students will explore the theoretical foundations of CBT and gain practical skills necessary for conducting effective group therapy sessions. The course will cover a range of topics, including cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, problem-solving techniques, and relapse prevention strategies. Students will learn how to assess and diagnose various mental health disorders commonly treated with CBT, such as anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, and eating disorders.
