Serhat Akpınar: “GAU Karpaz Life Campus Will Commence Education Next Academic Year.”

The construction of Karpaz Life Campus, which initially commenced in the previous academic year by Girne American University, aimed for the development of Karpaz locals and the region.

GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators - Serhat Akpınar, together with the GAU committee visited the Karpaz Life Campus construction site, and Akpınar reported on the latest developments of the construction phase.

“GAU shapes the future of Karpaz”

GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators - Serhat Akpınar stated that the future of the Karpaz will be shaped by GAU as the campus to be established, will resemble a more social life-orientated structure, contrary to the classical campus.

Akpınar further stated as follows:

“Construction has already started at Karpaz Life Campus. We start training in the next academic year. Especially, the Faculty of Architecture is ambitious and excited at the same time. The first 100 students start education with “Urban Design Department" at Karpaz Life Campus.  Karpaz, once used to be known as the deserted region but will from now on be known with its social and livable opportunities created by GAU Karpaz Life Campus as a result of our endeavors.  GAU Karpaz Life Campus located in Karpaz where it gets utopian looks by our own people, with no social life activities to satisfy students in any way, it is described as an area where there is no life, but it will come to life in the true sense. I would say that nice days are expected in the Dipkarpaz area in the coming years.”

Akpınar continued to his words and explained that the construction will preserve the Kapraz spirit by protecting its untouched environment and also its flora and fauna. Akpınar underlined that the structure established by GAU’s vision and development strategies is unique in the world of architecture.

Eco Village and Regional Institutions to be Established

Akpınar stated that careful examinations by the experts with regard to the region’s natural variations have been undertaken to help enrich the region rather than damaging it as the Eco village and environmental institutions are to be built. Akpınar finally stated that the campus will be the center of GAU’s scientific studies that aim to develop nature, culture and the economy of the Karpaz peninsula through the sustainable nature and culture principle.
