The 5th Education Workshop has been held at Girne American University (GAU) Millennium Senate and Congress Centre.

Students as well as the TRNC Ministry of Education officials, school administrator, guidance teachers and lecturers attended the workshop which was held to improve the development of the TRNC education system, providing a better future to the high school students by eliminating the mistakes which are made during university and career choices.

The workshop which was held about education, college choices and awareness, opened with a speech by GAU Rector - Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner.

GAU Rector - Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, who pointed out that GAU on the eve of its 30th year, organizes very important events concerning the future of the society; stressed the importance of receiving education according to students' abilities in his opening speech.

After the opening speech of GAU Rector - Yıldırım Öner, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi gave a presentation about "The Development Process of GAU from Past to Present", and stated that the diploma of GAU is valid anywhere in the world and GAU is the most ambitious university on the island especially in teaching English. Vehbi stated that - "The proof of this is the EQUALS accreditation. Saying we will be giving education in the English language is easy but it really is something else to provide education in English. GAU is doing it in the best way on the island. We are not saying this but the EQUALS accreditation is."

Vehbi, who reminded of the scholarship exam of Girne American University on May 31, stated that scholarships in significant numbers will be given especially to the TRNC citizens and gave information about overseas campuses of GAU.

The Education Author in Sabah and Producer of the Training Program towards Success - Sait Gürsoy gave a speech about "The Role of Pre-University Guide" following Asim Vehbi’s presentation.

Gürsoy, who drew attention to the college choices and mistakes made with regard to students in his presentation, warned that - "I call out especially to the PDR students. Tomorrow, a new generation will come into your hands. When progressing with this generation, if you direct them by looking at their standard of success, you will be developing the future of these young people."

"Today's young people are different from the pre-2010-teens. If you need to tell anything to young people, you have to do it at their level. So you must reach to their level in technology, foreign language and world view. You must examine their world view well. Everyone can shine in different occupations. No children, no person should be underestimated."

After the Gürsoy presentation, the workshop, which continued with a question and answer session, came to an end with Sait Gürsoy being presented with a plaque and those present were given certificates of participation by the GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators - Assoc. Assist. Dr. Asım Vehbi.
