After the completion of the restoration of Historical Grand Hammam, one of the important Ottoman cultural assets situated in Cyprus, with the contribution of the Foundation Directorate and UNDP, will be open to public with an official opening ceremony.


People of Nicosia showed great interest for the re-serving of the Historical Grand Hammam which witnessed the memories of the people of Nicosia and the history of the Capital-Nicosia, and also civil society organization supported hereof.


Historical Grand Hammam which had been financed by USAID, transfer of resource by UNDP-ACT and leading active role of the Foundation Directorate with social and historical responsibility awareness during the restoration period will participate by the members of the cabinet, state authorities. Foundation Administration authorities, UNDP-ACT authorities and members of GAU Cultural Heritage Management in the official ceremony that will be held on 12 December, 2012 Wednesday at 15:30


Security Forces Commander Major General Baki Kavun, Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun, Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Ünal Üstel, Undersecretary of Lefkoşa Embassy of Republic of Turkey Cem Sarıkaya, Founding Rector of GAU and Chancellor of Administrators Council Serhat Akpınar together with the State Authorities will announce new projects for the protection of the cultural heritage in walled city of Lefkoşa.

Official opening ceremony which the Minister of Finance Ersin Tatar, Minister of Labor and Social Security Şerife Ünverdi, Minister of National Education Youth and Sports Mutlu Atasayan are stated that are expected to participate in the official opening ceremony.  Also reminded the activities for the protection of cultural and historical heritage, original kept restoration, aims of gaining  for tourism through benefits  for community and public and as well as the progressing works  coordinated with the related official organs of the Cultural Heritage Management and emphasized that a new period for protection of Lefkoşa walled city cultural assets will commence after the date of 12/12/12 by GAU academic staff science persons of Architect, Urban Designator, Interior Architect, Lawyer, Tourism expert, Sociologist, Social Psychologist and Urban Developer.
