Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasibe Şahoğlu's Book "A Historical Perspective: The Phases of the Cyprus Issue and Solution Plans Since Lausanne" Meets Its Readers

Girne American University Cyprus Research Centre Publications has produced a new work examining the Cyprus issue within a historical framework. Written by (Retired Ambassador) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasibe Şahoğlu, the book titled A Historical Perspective: The Phases of the Cyprus Issue and Solution Plans Since Lausanne (In Turkish) has been published and made available to readers.

The study examines, within a coherent chronological framework, the phases the Cyprus question has undergone from the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne to the present day, along with the solution plans developed for the island. Covering a broad historical span—from the Lord Winster, Radcliffe, Macmillan, Acheson and Annan plans to the Zürich–London Agreements, and from the post-1974 period to the Crans-Montana process and the negotiation efforts after 2021—the work sets out the dynamics behind these diplomatic initiatives on the basis of documentary evidence. Combining her experience as a retired ambassador with her academic background, the author approaches the subject from both a historical and an international relations perspective.

Edited by Prof. Dr. Ata Atun, the book's proofreading and page design were carried out by Atay Demirel, and its cover was designed by Bright Chuka Jim Jideofor and Leyla Biçer. Constituting an important reference for readers interested in the history of Cyprus and the current geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as for researchers working in the field, the work was printed and published by Girne American University Cyprus Research Centre Publications (ISBN: 978-9925-584-91-8).
