International Anthropology Symposium Has Ended

International Place and Location Anthropology symposium was organized in GAU Girne Campus Millennium Complex Senate Congress Hall.

Scientists who have attended to international symposium mentioned a common point. They have emphasized that architecture shouldn’t be acknowledged as construction process only but, social, cultural and intellectual phenomenon.

At the opening of symposium Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Architects Head Azmi Öge made a speech. He emphasized that architecture concretized by history, social reality, communal and humanistic interests nowadays. He also thanked to GAU Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Faculty for carrying out such an event which has high level academic mission and develops nation and education in Cyprus.

Place and Location Anthropology themed international symposium was organized by GAU in TRNC for the first time. Deputy of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Faculty Hossein Sadri emphasized that attendance of important scientist; anthropologist and architects to symposium have great importance to nation and architecture of nation. Sadri said that Chamber of Architects have supported for eventuating symposium. Sadri also emphasized the importance of producing information in science fields of universities. Also added that current symposium --. Sadri emphasized that with the new theories on academic disciplines and fields, new theories and viewpoints symposium will remain on the agenda for a long period and it will be referred. Sadri also added that symposium notices will be released as international books and it will take place in science literature.

First session in symposium has started with the speech of Anthropology Department Prof Jakob Rigi’s. After the speech of guest speaker, Shahin Keynoush made speech with title "Anthropological Space & Spatial Anthropology". Second session of symposium continued with speeches of Senem Zeybekoğlu Sadri’s speech titled "The Scale of Public Space", and Emine Köseoğlu’s speech titled "Spatial Adoption and Urban Transformation". At the third session of symposium notices were presented. Dr. Ercan Gündoğan made a presentation with the title "Space: Social, Cultural or Natural?” Bahar Aktuna and Gülten Göze made a presentation with the title "Places, Non-places and Other Places". In the 4th (last) session Senem Doyduk presented notice with title "Space as an Intercultural Buffer" and Dr. Hossein Sadri presented notice with title "Adding Human to Architecture".

After the notice presentations GAU Chancery presented certificate of appreciation to collocutors. International symposium was broadcasted live in GAU TV.
