GAU 2011 - 2012 SPRING TERM GRADUATES RECEIVED THEIR DIPLOMAS

Girne American University 2011-2012 Spring term graduates received their diplomas yesterday. The graduation ceremony started at 19.00 and took place in Girne amphitheatre. Turkey’s embassador to Nicosia Halil İbrahim Akça, Governer of Istanbul Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, Security Forces Commander Major General Mehmet Daysal, ministerials, political party leaders, members of the parliment, YÖDAK representatives, graduates and their families attended the graduation ceremony.
ÖNER
During his speech, Öner stated that the graduates will go back to their countries and start their work life with the best accumulation of knowledge, and wished success to the new graduates.
AKPINAR
GAU Founding Rector Serhat Akpınar reminded the new graduates that regardless of their occupation and position they are now ready for life as members of the GAU family. Akpınar stated that the graduates should keep in touch with the university.
BIÇAK
In his speech, the president of the Higher Education Planning Evaluation Accrediation and Coordination Council Hasan Ali Bıçak stated that the families, university administration and teachers have all contributed to the students’ success.

Bıçak has also expressed his belief in students and wished them success in their future life. Bıçak addressed the foreign students and made several claims. When they return to their countries, Bıçak wanted the students to mention the TRNC nationals’ rightful case and to act as embassadors, and to explain that ‘‘TRNC nationals are slanted towards a solution and want to free themselves from the isolations’’.
AKÇA
The Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia Halil Ibrahim Akça said in his speech that GAU graduates will work to a certain future in the global world and wherever they are in the world their hearts will remain in Cyprus.
AN HONORARY DOCTORATE FOR GOVERERNER MUTLU...

Later GAU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Memduh Erdal, GAU Founding Rector and Executive Board Chairman Serhat Akpınar and Rector Yıldırım Oner presented the Governer of Istanbul Hüseyin Avni Mutlu an Honorary Doctorate in the Field of Business Management.
MUTLU
In his speech Huseyin Avni Mutlu said that in order for young graduates to look forward to a secure future it is important that they are prepared in the best way by the state and community
GAU’S MOST SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYEES ARE ALSO REWARDED

Following Mutlu’s speech, GAU’s ‘‘Most successful academic’’ and ‘‘most successful administrator’’ awards were presented to the President of the Engineering Faculty Assistant Professor Dr. Zafer Ağdelen and Head of Student Affairs Zerrin Gürler.

Following Vasfiye Çakırtaş’s music concert Abdul Moukhtar gave a speech on behalf of the 2011-2012 graduates.

Doctorate, Masters and Degree graduates with High Honors, Asım Vehbi, Tuba Çakırtaş and Svetlana Aliashkevich drove a plaque into the term block.

The ceremony ended with the distribution of the diplomas.
