STUDENTS OF THE GAU COMMUNICATION FACULTY VISITED THE LAPTA RETIREMENT HOME IN THE SENIOR CITIZENS WEEK

"Visit of Lapta Retirement Home”, held by Girne American University (GAU) Communication Faculty Public Relations Club students with support of GAU Communication Faculty and GAU Health Systems Faculty Ergo Therapy Department, was carried out with large participation of students. Youth of GAU made the elders happy with their visit.

Students of GAU Communication Faculty carried out their visit with some delay because of the busy schedule of the elders for the 18-24 March Senior Citizens Week. Students brought fruit baskets with them for elders, kissed their hands, had joyful chats and spent some time with them.

During the visit, emotional moments occurred while chats. Vice Dean of Girne American University Communication Faculty Assoc.Prof.Dr. Remziye Terkan emphasised in her speech that, as the faculty, they are greatly happy about the visit. Terkan said:

"Elders are our roots, ancestors, and our values. In any circumstance, they are always our treasure. Visiting them, kissing their hands, and seeing the smile on their faces gives us great happiness. It shouldn`t be forgotten that we and our youth will get old as well one day. Making them happy is our responsibility." Terkan has stated that, whether as GAU communication faculty or as GAU Communication Faculty Public Relations Club, they made the elders happy with the visit they carried out with students that are sensible and aware of their social responsibilities and that they are really happy about this.
