SENIOR PROTOCOL OF BALIKESIR HOSTED GAU COMMITTEE

Girne American University (GAU) carries its 30 year Academic fund of knowledge and experience to Homeland Turkey.

Global science committee that is under the presidency of GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar, firstly, after their visit to campus area at Susurluk in Balıkesir, they were approved by Balıkesir Governor Mustafa Yaman, Balıkesir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Edip Uğur and Karesi Mayor Yücel Yılmaz. After the approvals, committee were organized a common press conference and they made important statements about GAU Susurluk.

Global Science Committee which is under the presidency of GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar, Vice-Chancellors of GAU Board of Administrators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi and Olgun Üstün, GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Kutsal Öztürk, Member of the Board of Directors and Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri and GAU Turkey Coordinator Hüseyin Ata took part. Beside the GAU Committee, Susurluk Caimacam Yusuf Özdemir, Susurluk Mayor Hüseyin Hızlıoğlu and Non-governmental organization authorities were took part in the press conference.

Susurluk Caimacam Yusuf Özdemir made a statement in the press conference and he said that they are so glad to be with committee which was come from Girne American University, and he said that they will help GAU bureaucratically via some contacts. Özdemir continues his statement as follows,

 “If they consider appropriate after their evaluations, we will give you a support by working from the separate arm. This meeting is not a a few meeting work actually. It is an important work. In the forthcoming days, we will go and they will come but I wish to be auspicious and lucky as a start. I am glad to see them here again and I present thanks.”

Susurluk Mayor Hüseyin Hızlıoğlu said these in his statement,

 “I, firstly present my thanks to our valuable guests for accepting our invitation on behalf of our country and on my behalf. We are all happy to recognize such a good people. We saw they are also eager for establishing a university here in regard to our meeting with Metropolitan Mayor and Governor. We will apply after we pass the particular phases. A working force will be sent there by Girne American University and building works will be done. I wish it will be beneficial. We all win here. Girne American University will decide after making an assessment of the economic base. Hope the best again.”

GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar in his statement said that, if GAU Susurluk get the permissions in 2016, it will start its education but if permissions won’t reach, it start its education life in 2017 and it will get its first students. Akpınar said these in continuation of his speech,

 “Firstly, I offer endless thanks to my President in behalf of our university for making a honorable presentation. You can be sure that both Susurluk’s key and our glorious Turkish flag will take part in our university’s valuable corner and you can be sure that we will offer our flag with a special weaving at our next meeting. I express this process like that; Firstly, it wouldn’t be normal that if we take a dim view to this invitation after this decent, exceptional invitation. Facilities that you have seen, projects and projects for Susurluk  were executed by our Governor, Metropolitan Mayor, Caimacam, Other Mayors and our President within the scope of  2023 program and generally when we look with excite to the Balıkesir health tourism, industry and education fields breakthrough plans, I decided once more that we need to be in this process.

Explanations of process and steps that will be taken need some coulisse acts. Although we live any dream, requirement, and excitement, certain number of bureaucratic actions need to pass and it means that a new interview process will begin at Ankara. Next week when the report which is about works that our science association will reveal and steps that are related to what process will move on proceed, we will share with you, our Caimacam and President. After that, we will transfer the topic to Higher Education Institution by means of meet with political authoritarian and I am sure that our University energize at Susurluk after Higher Education Institution’s description of the process.

Within the scope of the activity program that we have executed with reliance and belief and such a good approach for accelerating, we can start all of the restoration works in that time. There will be no problem in the preparation process. Also two of the programs are pilotage and aircraft and now they are positioned at Çorlu. We can carry our program which is in Çorlu to Susurluk. We can carry marine, pilotage and summer school programs here quickly without delay. There will be programs that will support the works here. Some part of the education of the Girne American University students can implement in here and I think we can start the education in 2017 September after the bureaucratic processes prepared in 2016 September-October. As long as your requests and wishes exist, our task is to implement the project.

I am sure that, support, your excite, other investment programs that are expected to create the added value and that will be created after put forward the project, will provide opportunity to Susurluk in the first 5 year while improving and restructuring the project as an economical. In Girne American University’s internationalization program, most of our students will come from 3rd world country. If we take this into consideration, especially in social settlement, health and in topics like these, we need your support as well. In short, I believe that we can create our 3rd University in Balıkesir within a 1 year process. We have never seen such a welcome anywhere like we have seen in Susurluk with heartily. Therefore, greater responsibility falls to us. We will do our best and we share this honorable process together.
