Assoc. Dr. Sadık Ülker, the Girne American University-Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs, attended the meeting of the IACBE (International Accreditation Council for Business Education) which is one of the leading accreditation councils for higher education in the world.

The IACBE meeting was held in Kansas City, USA, and Assoc. Sadık Ülker attended the meeting on behalf of the GAU as full member of the Council. Pointing out to the significance of the full membership of the IACBE, Ülker made important statements.
“The Higher Education System and Structure of North Cyprus Is Closely Observed”

The meeting which was attended by Dr. Dernnis Gash, the Chairman of the IACBE and William Parrott, Director of the International Operations of the IACBE, Dr. Judith Eaton Chairperson of the CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation), an organization in the USA which supports the accreditaion councils, members of the IACBE administrative board and representatives of the member universities. Stating that the main aim of the meeting was to assess the reliability, quality, common syllabi and accreditation world-wide and to adopt decisions on these issues, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ülker said that at the meetings which went on for three days, there were important exchanges of views with authorities of the member universities and high-ranking IACBE officials and added that the higher education system and structure of North Cyprus was closely observed by international accreditaion councils and other universities.
“Importance Must be Attached to the Internationalization of the Universities of the Country in the Global Competition”

Stressing the fact that the global campuses and educational programmes of the GAU were closely observed by the international accreditation councils, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ülker said that in the conditions of global competition the universities must attach importance to the internationalization of the universities and added that the status of the GAU as full member of the IACBE constitutes an important reference for the TRNC higher education system and structures.
