Iraqian students who gained the right for an official state grant from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education in 13 elite Universities of Turkey and the TRNC only the Girne American University’s name took place in the list.

İn an official grant list for Iraqian students which enables them to gain higher education in globally recognised universities, aimed at being beneficial to their country on their return, Turkeys ‘Istanbul Kultur’, ‘Yasar’, ‘Bahcesehir’, ‘Dokuz Eylul’, ‘Gazi’, ‘Sabanci’, ‘Anadolu’, ‘Ankara’, ‘Hacettepe’, ‘Istanbul Teknik’, ‘Bilkent’, ‘Bogazici’ and ‘Ortadogu Teknik’ universities as well as only ‘Girne American University’ from TRNC.
“Iraq Officially recognises GAU only out of the universities of TRNC”

GAU spokesperson stated that Iraqi students who have state scholarship and enroll in GAU will also have the opportunity to further their higher education in GAU’s Intercontinental Great Britain, Singapore and the United States campuses.

The spokesperson continued by expressing that appearing on the Official website of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education website ‘www.mhe-krg.org’ for world reknown universities alongside Turkeys 13 elite universities is an important referance for Girne American University.

Official recognition of the TRNC’s Girne American University by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education will lead to positive results not just for GAU but for the country's higher education system. Being formally recognised means that GAU has been successful in Intercontinental Campuses to be effective in accredited academic programs and emphasized the importance given to internationalization.
