Parents and people in the area gave their supports students, who carried banners that read: "We are walking for health", "Live healthy, stay healthy", "Run for a healthy life", "Eat healthily, beat the cancer"
Sevim Kayıkçı, the Principal of The American Future College, thanked everyone who supported the event and stated the followings:
“I believe the walk which was organized in these important days in order to raise awareness in children and in the community was successful. Taking into account that the World Health Day is on April 7 and between April 7-13 is health week, we made our event on Wednesday, April 1st. A healthy life passes through a healthy diet; therefore we emphasize the importance of walking and doing sports with our students. I believe that, we raised awareness for health today. I would like to thank our parents who have contributed to us.”
Gizem Baloğlu, GAU Group of Schools nutritionist and dietitian drew attention to the importance of the event and stated that: “Healthy life is a right which every human being acquired from the birth and comes from being a human. In our lives, the concept of health cannot be changed or measured with another concept.”
Baloğlu emphasized that for healthy communities the individuals, smallest building stone of society, must be healthy and stated the followings:
“If the individuals are healthy society will also be healthy. Today, obesity is increasing in many countries. Researches conducted by the World Health Organization in six different regions of Asia, Africa and Europe have shown that people in many countries, including Cyprus are fed unhealthy. Starting from this, we marched in Dereboyu on behalf of performing this project and to create awareness about eating healthy and preventing obesity in the community.
On the other hand, today (April 2, Thursday) The American Future College Students will be inspected individually and the results of the analysis will be reported to parents.
A seminar on health will be held for the children in the conference room, at the same day.
