GAU and ALSIM - Cyprus Aviation Academy

Girne American University(GAU) celebrates its 30th year in the 2014-2015 academic year and continues to take new steps in the aviation and piloting fields.

 

GAU’s Senior Management Team met at GAU Kyrenia Campus, Millennium Senate Office with ALSIM flight simulator business officials, whose Headquarters are in France. The meeting was attended by GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board - Serhat Akpınar, CEO and Vice Chancellor - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, Vice Chancellors - Cemile Esenyel and Olgun Üstün, Legal Consultant - Aral Doğu and International Aviation Technique Academy Coordinator and Head Teacher - Sezai Demirseren,  ALSIM Turkey Distributor - Sermed James Temizkan along with ALSIM France Manager - Audrey Jeffroy.

 

According to the statement from the GAU, it was stated that ALSIM and GAU came together for the purchase of new simulator within the Cyprus Aviation Academy and ALSIM officials gave information about simulators. After the meeting, ALSIM officials who made an examination of the GAU Cyprus Kyrenia Campus, stated that they liked the campus and that it is ideal for simulator installation and aviation training. It was emphasized that the areas where simulators are planned to be established, were detected at the end of the research and the studies are continuing quickly.

 

Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board - Serhat Akpınar stated that ALSIM and GAU have  come together for the International Aviation Academy within recent months, and expressed that the interest in the aviation industry increased with the development of aviation and lack of pilots in the globalized world and that they would continue to progress in this direction. Akpınar, who stated that for the first time a university that was established in TRNC will be entering a formation on this scale in world standards, informed that they will train the leader pilots of the future with 4 new generation single engine cockpit aircraft, 1 new generation double engine glass cockpit aircraft and 2 single and multi-engine advanced, approved by ALSIM EASA and ALX ULTIMATE aircraft simulator. Also Akpınar stated that the education commenced with the approval of YÖK and YÖDAK, and will be given in 2 parts; the theoretical part at GAU Cyprus and the practical part at the flight school in İstanbul, both provided with the latest technology products and simulators in both places.
