Girne American University (GAU) Global Science Family organized a ceremony in honour of the sad event that took place in Pakistan.

The ceremony took place at the GAU Kyrenia Millennium Campus - Freedom Square in Cyprus. GAU’s CEO and Vice Chancellor of Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr . Asım Vehbi, GAU General Secretary - Assist. Prof. Dr. Sualp Davut, along with academicians and students participated in the ceremony.

At the ceremony GAU CEO and Vice Chancellor of Board of Administrators - Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi made a speech and said:

 “We are here today because of the sad event that took place in Pakistan. I’ve been in almost every area of Pakistan. My siblings in Pakistan always made me feel at home. When I told them I was Turkish and Cypriot I always saw the sparkle in their eyes. We are here today to share the feelings of the 148 people we have lost, most of them being children. The pictures from these sad events that have happened are shaming. These various acts of terror are not solving anything, they are making things worse. The only thing I want from you all, whether in Pakistan or wherever you are, is to come together for the families that have lost their loved ones and for those who have passed away. For this reason I am inviting you, as a Girne American University Family member and as a person, for a moment of silence for their spirits, families and honour.”

After a moment of silence the ceremony ended.
