GAU underlined the primitive competition of interuniversity and the ruining of the of TRNC as a university and science island as a result of unreal arguments which had been published by some press agencies and columnists

GAU has underlined that a local newspaper and an online journal have demonstrated delusive and primitively competitive reports on GAU Maritime and Transportation Higher School upon the requests of NEU authorities regarding GAU Higher School of Maritime and Transportation ratios of most preferred department thus harming the image of TRNC in means of universities and science thus triggering future possible threats.

 “NEU must further discuss the reasons for only enrolling 18 students to 3 Maritime related Departments”.

GAU further emphasized that the fundamental reason for the aggressions driven by NEU is due to low amount of preference to 3 various departments in Maritime Faculty with only 18 student enrolments and counter to this GAU Higher School of Maritime and Transportation which had been certified for quality programs, education laboratories and education fields by Turkish Republic Transportation Maritime and Communication Ministry, Sea and Continental Waters Regulation Directorate has been preferred by 103 students. Also it has been reported that GAU is one and only to provide an education chance for the students to experience within the international waters of Mediterranean for practical training.

Higher School of GAU Maritime and Transportation which provides education under authorization approval of the General Directorate  of Turkish Republic Transportation Maritime and Communication Ministry, Sea and Continental Waters is a member of General Directorate  of Sea and Continental Waters  similar to NEU-MF amongst 25 other members and also an equal status member of Maritime Education Council and has no legal complication for GAU students to take part in the assessment and evaluation exam for converting diploma to licence in Marine Examination Centre.

Students of Higher School of GAU Maritime and Transportation whom participate their internships in international waters are been integrated to perfectionist and international education of GAU and GAU is one and only university in TRNC that provides education under world standard curriculum, practical infrastructure and technological equipment and thus is evident through student preference frequency.

GAU also announced that NEU must soon abandon the primitive competition attempts which ruin the quality image of the higher education of the country and meet the common sense.  GAU is in all fields of undergraduate programs the second most preferred university following EMU. Finally it has been stated that GAU remonstrates any attempt which will urge harm to the country.
