The 1st of GAU PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION DAYS has begun on 3rd of April 2013 for the first time in TRNC with the organization held by GAU Education Faculty Pre-school Teaching Department and Teaching staff Aytaç Dilek.

Hematology Expert Dr. Ayşe Sayılı have held a speech about “Cancer and Child” following the opening speeches of the Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Saadettin YILDIZ and Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet TORAN during the commencement of the events.

The presentation held by Sayılı about the types and causes of cancer confronted in the world and TRNC and the responsibilities of the community.

Psychologist Selen Üstüner has informed the cancer fighting children’s families and further stressed on the psychological problems faced by the children during the phase.

A speech was held on 4th of April 2013 Thursday regarding the responsibilities of teachers and teacher candidates of dyslexia, hearing impaired and mentally challenged children under the title of “Children with Special Needs”.

Pedagogue Ulusal Metay whom held a speech about dyslexia talked about the diagnosis of dyslexia, the areas of concerns regarding schools and the accompanying behavior needed to be undertaken within the classrooms in regards to the children with dyslexia.

In addition to these the topics like needs of children with special needs, kind of special needs and practices necessary to be undertaken during the early childhood phase for the integration with the community.

Finally an emphasis was stressed upon the responsibilities which needed to be executed specially by the fields which their main concern is children with special needs to generate more awareness on those whom are been excluded from the society due to their special needs and underline that individuals with special needs are part of the community and must be visible in the society and accepted by the community.

The Director of SOS Children Village Ahmet Akarsu, Coordinator of Family Reinforcement Project Süreyya Çelmendeğer of SOS Children Village, Responsible Person for SOS Children Village Fund Development and Public Relations Cemil Hafız and Ayşe Ateş of Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Foundation of Fight against Cancer have lectured under the content of “The Non-Governmental Organization Concerned with Children” on the final 5th of April 2013 Friday.

A speech was held for the aids provided, services undertaken for the people in need and the procurement of the necessary aid and distribution of thereof to those in need by SOS Children Village and Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Foundation of Fight against Cancer which serves as non-governmental establishment.

The brochures of both foundations were distributed to the audience at the end of the conference. A video for awareness on Child Rights prepared by GAU Pre-School students in aid of SOS Children Village and students whom prepared the video were presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Director of SOS Children Village Ahmet Akarsu.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toran whom held an assessment speech during the 3rd day of the fully participated 1st of Pre-School Education Days stressed that the undergraduate program which ought to include inter-communal activities for the professionals whom are conducting their duties with children and built awareness and enhance these activities in the future.
