Girne American University Male Table Tennis Team have become the champion of Turkey in the second league matches held between April 11 to 15 of 2012 in the last leg of the Turkey Table Tennis League.

Turkeys Second legue of Table Tennis held in Kutahya, GAU male table tennis team competed against Bursa Sport, Alarko Sport, Belediye Sport, IBB Sport, Telecom Sport, Ostim Sport, KON-TEK, Lin. Un MTI, Bahçelievler İzcilik GSK, Gençlik ve Sport, Muğla Sport and Arıköy Sport teams. At the end of 24 matches with 22 wins and 2 loses GAU became Turkeys Table Tennis 2 League champions. Along with the championship, GAU Male Table Tennis Team have been successful in achieving an important aspect for TRNC by securing a place in the first league competitions next year.

Turkay Akpinar, the Head of Sport Culture and Health Department in referance to the topic stated that GAU spots clubs have successfully represented TRNC in both national and international tournaments and competitions from fencing to athletics and many other branches of sports, and that the GAU table tennis team’s aim is to bring the 1st league Table Tennis Cup to TRNC.

GAU Sports Coordinator Muzaffer Doggun expressed how proud he was to have brought Turkeys 2nd legue Table Tennis championship cup to the TRNC after Turkeys Badminton Championship trophy held between universities. He continued by saying that GAU Sports Clubs will continue to persue successes in both national and international arenas.
