Web Monitoring Robot was developed in the laboratories of GAU

Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Engineering tries to reach the highest standards of world-class education and had renewed its laboratories. Now those laboratories started to make contribution to scientific production.

According to the statement made by GAU, technological specifications and sub structure of the Laboratories of Computer, Electronic, Ergonomics and Job Study, PLC and Microprocessors, Electric Machines, Mechatronics, Software Developing and Communication and Microwave, were developed. It was also mentioned that laboratories of Physic, Chemistry, Software Technologies, Research and Development, Internet Technologies, Alternative Energy are ready to give service and Project of WEB Controlled Monitoring Robot, which is the first production of those newly developed laboratories, was completed

According to the statement made by GAU,the project was completed by a student of GAU, Aytaç Tanrıverdi with his Advisor, lecturer of GAU Faculty of Engineering, İbrahim Erşan. Thanks to the project, the connection between the campuses of GAU (Canterbury, Singapore, US and North Cyprus) will be more dynamic. In his interview with GAU TV Actual News, İbrahim Erşan underlined the importance of the Project of WEB Controlled Monitoring Robot which was developed by the GAU Computer Engineering Department.

“The equipment which we named as “Monitoring Robot” can not be only remote controlled but also can be controlled from WEB. That project will be continuously developed. Our project mainly consists of 3 phases. At the first phase of the project, via remote control that was connected to USB of Server, “Monitoring Robot” had been achieved to be removed. At the second phase, the camera that was put on the robot had been achieved to be removed and the image taken via robot had sent to “Server”. At the third and last phase, all the controls related with “Monitoring Robot” and monitoring the image that was sent by the robot, had been achieved to be conveyed to another computer.”

Erşan also said that it is possible to take image with removing the camera via that robot and emphasized that they are planning to add new specifications to the project which had been started as a prototype and then developed by undergraduate GAU students. Erşan mentioned, during that process, it is possible to charge the robot’s battery with solar energy and also possible to provide robot’s following a route that was previously determined. He underlined the importance of the Project of WEB Controlled Monitoring Robot in the field of Computer Engineering.
