Akpınar explains the successful works of GAU in 2015 and announces the plans for 2016

Girne American University (GAU) Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar stated that as GAU, they have carried out many new memberships, accreditations and agreements in 2015 and the investments and projects will continue.

Akpınar who gave information about the successful works of GAU in 2015 referred that “With the devoted works of our staff, we improved our international collaborations and memberships in 2015” and emphasized that GAU continues to rise in the success rating of universities and out of 200 graduate institutions, it has become the 18^th  in the “EDUNIVERSAL Best Masters Ranking”.

GAU continues to grow

Akpınar who underlined that in 2015, Girne American University became a member of Mediterranean Universities Union, European Universities Continuing Education Network stated the followings: “American University of Cyprus became the member of European Council for Business Education and International Universities Search and Rescue Council. In addition, the programs of Girne American University became accredited again by European Council for Business Education and TEDQUAL. Our marine and aviation programs received license from the TR Ministry of Maritime and Transport and General Directorate of Civil Aviation. The programs of AUC also gained recognition and become accredited by Moldova Education Ministry”

GAU difference in Magna Charta

Akpınar pointed out that as the only university in North Cyprus which attended the Magna Charta Observatory Council, GAU took a global step by having the opportunity of signing the historic Declaration which was opened for signature by Bologna University, International Universities Association and European Universities Association in 1988 and have been signed by 900 rectors up to the present and continued; “As Founding Rector and Chancellor of Board of Administrators of Girne American University, with the other 25 university rectors, I had the distinct honor of signing the Declaration on behalf of our university in the presence of Former President of Italy, President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, Council of Europe representatives, European University Association, International Universities Association, Bologna University Rector and members of the faculty.”

Investment to the USA, India, Germany and Poland

Akpınar remarked that they have signed collaboration agreements with The American International University of Richmond, India Amity University, Allensbach University (Germany) and Poland Kozminski University and made statements about Real Estate Development Enterprises of 2015.

Akpınar stated that “We have performed the ground breaking ceremony of GAU Smarthealth Complex which is to be opened in cooperation with Istanbul Science University and Florence Nightingale Hospitals. Next year, we will witness the openings of our hospital which has 250 bed capacity and our laboratories which are equipped with the highest technology for the first students of Faculty of Pharmacy” and continued as follows:

Beşparmak  Mountain Project

 “In 2015, GAU American College Preschool and Primary School moved into new campuses which are equipped with the highest technology and would support the developments of the youngest members of our society. We have started the renewal and formation works of dormitories, laundry, general store and cafes of our Canterbury Campus. We also took our first steps in starting our Beşparmak Mountain Project which includes 5 new constructions that will be organized according to the necessities of our 5 faculties.”
