GAU Human Rights Week Events Continuities

Girne American University (GAU), which declared 2015-2016 academic year as the year of "Children and Human Rights" with the decision of the Senate, continues to its awareness raising activities in the campus with "Danced for Human Rights" event.

Firstly "Draw Human Rights", the screening of the "Iron Jawed Angels" film and "Danced for Human Rights" events were realized within the Human Rights Week, while "Human Rights Exhibition" and "Human Rights" themed panel will take place with the participation of expert guests on other days.

 

Serhat Akpınar Published a Message on Human Rights Week

 

GAU Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board Serhat Akpınar, who published a message on the account of Human Rights Week, stated the followings;

 

"Our students, who came from the four corners of the world, are growing as an individual that will protect the rights of themselves and society. Our aim is to equip them with faith, values and behavior."

 

Human Rights Awareness Activities

 

GAU Vice Rector and Board Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri, stating that the opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, December 10, expressed that the exhibition will be open for 30 days. Sadri stressed that the articles of the universal human rights declaration will be introduced in the exhibition. Sadri, expressing that a panel will be held on the subject on Friday, December 11, stated that; "Hacettepe University, Chairman of the Human Rights Research Center Prof. Dr. Harun Tepe, from Turkey, will be attending to our panel. Turkish Cypriot Bar Association President and participants from the human rights foundation will be attending to the panel."
