Akpınar: “We hereby convey the most modern educational institution with its educational technology and infrastructure, to the future”

The new building of The Girne American College which is under the Group of Schools of GAU was opened to the educational service through the participations of The President of the Republican Assembly Dr Sibel Siber, The National Education Minister Kemal Dürüst, The Minister of Economy Birikim Özgür, The Founding Rector and the Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar, The Vice Chancellors of the Board of Administrators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, Olgun Üstün, Cemile Esenyel, Cemile Esenyel, The Members of the Board, The Head of District of Girne Mehmet Envergil, The Major of Alsancak Münicipality Fırat Ataser, The Major of Lapta Municipality Fuat Namsoy, The Rector of GAU Prof. Dr. Kutsal Öztürk, The Rector of AUC, Prof. Dr. Asuman Türkel, The Vice Rectors, The Principals of the Group of Schools of GAU, Academists, Teachers and students.

Following the speeches Tunç Adanır- Architecture Office (Statistic, Mechanic, Electric), Taşkın Ürel -Asiin Company Director, Mukaddes Pala- Interior Architecture, Süleyman Erol- The General Director of Credit West, Gökhan Özdenli- Değer Park Construction, Celal Sakka- Group of Schools of GAU, Alper Çetin and Haldun Aygın- Information Technology Office were presented their plaque of appreciations.

Following the poem and speeches of the American College students in multi-languages, a dance performance took place within the yard of the College. Following the performance the College was presented to the guests through visiting Nursery Department, Duty Room, Art Workshop, Science Lab, Cafeteria, Swimming Pool, Sports Hall (Prep), Dance Room (Prep), Music Room (Elementary), Cafeteria (Primary), Arts Room (Elementary), Elementary 1 Class (lesson with termical boards): Termical Screen course demonstration, French Room (Prep), Music Room (Prep).

 Berna Özdoğa- The Coordinator to the Group of Schools of Girne American have emphasized that “There is no consequences in education; we as GAU family have aimed to be the best through our vision and mission. We aim to be a brand in education and develop in this sense. We pursue a global education programs that embraceses globalization other than our own cultural values. This is due to the fact that our students will compete in global standards”.

The Vice Chancellor of GAU Board Of Administrators Olgun Üstün also stated that “The one and only smart building in the island which provides education to students aged between 2,5-11 years from 15 different countries with over 600 students. This building consists of 60 classrooms and 15 thousand meter square of area and a sports hall with 295 metre square of field”.

Olgun Üstün also recalled to the parents of the students and stated that their children will be provided with global standard education in the smart building with technological advances. Hence this is an honour to provide education in the fields of language, science and art”.

The Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar

The Founding Rector and the Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar expressed that administration that is to be applied to the academia shall be more monetarily and technologically useful rather than comprehending it as a promotional aspect of life, emphasizing the Great Leader Atatürk’s words.  Akpınar added that “  We as GAU always intend and aim to be part of the knowledge and global transformation. In this sense evaluate each child’s process of development and alternate educational modules in this sense. Enhancing students with the English language to the peak point of using it as the mother tongue and also harmonizing the students abilities with being successful and also ethical individuals of the society. 

Emphasizing that GAU have illuminated the torch of knowledge in Mersin –Silifke as well, Akpınar underlined that GAU Group of Schools hold the global accreditations for international recognition which also assist the Group of Schools to be developed further in Turkey as well.

Akpınar finalized his words by emphasizing that the Group of Schools of GAU graduated more than 30 thousand alumni who are now the honoring representatives and opinion leaders of the world. And finally Akpınar conveyed his best wishes of success to those students who will be undertaking education in 2015-2016 Academic years and emphasized that “We are on the same path with no pause... We are One!”

The Minister of National Education Kemal Dürüst

Dürüst stated in his speech that “ The new educational institution will not only contribute to Girne but to the whole of TRNC. We are currently hosting many of those countries’ children who do not recognize us and this is only due to the success of our leading institution; Girne American University. We are graduating students from over 105 different countries who are representing our diplomas in their homelands.

Dürüst also stated that this new smart building will be enlighten a path for other educational institutions to transfer their educational platforms to a technologic enhancements. Dürüst finally wished the very best for the students who will be undertaking education in the new building.

President of the Assembly SİBER

Siber emphasized that “the new building is contemporary and technological. We hope that each child in this country will be able to hold the advantage of proceeding their educational lives in such a advanced platform. We as the TRNC State will be contributing to this. The success of our children is the success of us, the society and the world in general. The better world will only be though better knowledge”.
