Bilgi-Becari Yarışması (Knowledge-Skill Competition)
The theme of this year’s photography competition was “Following the Traces of Shadows.” As photography is inherently dependent on light, shadows become a vital element that adds balance, depth, contrast, texture, and form to an image. In this competition, shadows were treated as the central subject, encouraging participants to observe the interaction between light and shadow and reflect this interplay through creative and thoughtful compositions. The competition aimed to foster artistic awareness, conceptual exploration, and technical skill among young photographers.
Additionally, as part of the 2024–2025 Vocational High Schools Inter-School Knowledge and Skills Competitions, a Poster and Slogan Competition was held under the theme “Peer Bullying.” Participants were encouraged to approach the topic from diverse perspectives—including energy, health, education, and social life—emphasizing the importance of awareness and empathy in tackling this significant social issue.
Both events aimed to promote visual communication, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. Students were given a platform to express their ideas through design and imagery, connecting artistic creativity with real-world concerns.
I was honored to serve as a jury member, representing the Graphic Design Department of Girne American University (GAU) at both competitions, which were organized by the Ministry of National Education, Directorate of Vocational Technical Education, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC). My participation contributed to the academic and artistic evaluation processes and supported the development of young talents in the field of visual arts and design.
