About the Center

The Gender Studies Center, established in 2016, is a multidisciplinary research center at Girne American University comprised of academics and graduate students interested in gender studies. The center was created to undertake and promote research and educational activities in the field of Gender Studies, as well as to facilitate collaborations between GAU academics, graduate students, civil society, and policymakers.

The Gender Studies Center aims for all individuals, regardless of their gender, to live in a fair and equitable world where they are valued and empowered. To achieve this goal, we advocate for conducting contemporary and pioneering research, raising awareness on gender equality issues, and developing evidence-based gender equality policies.
