Girne American University 30th academic year opening ceremony ended with the traditional annual cortege “Hand to Hand with Kyrenia.”

Every year, traditionally beginning from Kyrenia Municipality Ramadan Cemil Square, great interest was shown in the cortege by Kyrenia locals and tourists and it ended with placing a wreath at Ataturk’s statue.

GAU Acting Rector Prof. - Dr. Sadık Ülker, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karakartal, Head of Health, Culture and Sports Türkay Akpınar, Secretary General Asst. Prof. Dr. Sualp Davut with Deans of Faculties, preschools, primary school and colleges which are associated to GAU group of schools and with the university sport and student clubs, a large number of participants attended the cortege which turned into a festive mood with a DJ performance.

The University, group of schools ended the event with the authorities paying respects at Ataturk’s statue and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karakartal made a speech about the 30^th academic year opening, addressing the people of Kyrenia, GAU academic and administrative staff and the students.
