Domestic Goods Week was held by The American Elementary School under the Girne American University (GAU) Group of Schools Consortium of Education Institutions of Pre-Higher Education in the content of social responsibility and awareness of citizenship.


The American Elementary School had explained the importance of consuming domestic goods in favor of social responsibility and awareness of citizenship towards the development of state economy via various of events and workshop activities which realized in the scope of Domestic Goods Week held in Girne Campus.


The students of The American Elementary School have promoted various products like oil, milk, coffee, detergent, biscuits after the analysis on manufactured products in Cyprus within the content of the event. Also beside of the importance of the consuming of domestic goods for the development of the state economy, the usage and making of the domestic goods and tastes peculiar to Turkish Cypriot culture which are facing extinction had been taught to the students within the scope of Domestic Goods Week events.


The authors of our country were introduced and the books of tour country’s poets were sold besides the teaching of the importance and the usage of the items of folkloric and ethnographic material culture beside of the authentic tastes realized in the framework of the Domestic Goods Week events held on 12-18 December.

The Principal of The American Elementary School Nagehan Öner have spoken about the event which will be held by Girne American University (GAU)Group of Schools Consortium of Education Institutions of Pre-Higher Education within the scope of the vision of organizing events for developing the  social responsibility and awareness of citizenship of the students and also added that “ The aim of the Domestic Goods Week events are to promote the domestic goods to the students which are manufactured in Cyprus, to teach new generations to be encouraged to consume the domestic goods and protect the history, culture and folkloric of the country and to raise individuals for consuming domestic goods for adding values to the state economy.”
