For the first time a Turkish Cypriot Scientist has been chosen to the Executive board of World Association for Hospitality and Tourism Education and Training (AMFORHT) which leads to the World Tourism, education and policies.

Director of GAU Applied Social Studies Academy and International Tourism and Head of Education College Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmet Esenyel has been chosen as member of board to the responsible zones in Mediterranean and Middle East of AMFORHT.

President of AMFORHT Philip Francois stated that Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmet Esenyel has been chosen to member of board with reference to international quality criteria in Tourism education and professional success in 42nd World Tourism Forum which was organized with contributions of GAU and in North Cyprus for the first time.

Asst. Prof. Dr. İsmet Esenyel made important statements about the subject.  He has stated that with universal power of science and higher education of Turkish Cypriots, he has chosen for global units which take turn to the world.  He also stated that AMFORHT is taking turns in world’s tourism since 1969 and he is taking pride to be first Turkish Cypriot in AMFORHT as a member of board.

“Ministry of Tourism’s Vision makes positive effects on Nation’s Brand Value” Esenyel stated that with AMFORHT he is now in charge of two tourism zones which are both important and strategic in world’s tourism zones. He also stated that North Cyprus has the value in World Tourism industry. He also emphasized that with the positive developments in tourism, by education quality means GAU will develop and earn respect of the whole world.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Esenyel stressed that Cooperation of Tourism sector and Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture has important results. Also with the Ministry of Tourism’s vision and raising Nation’s Brand Value, tourism in the island will reach to a different level.

“The process of being World’s leading and taking place in Turkey’s first three universities have been started” Asst. Prof. Dr. Esenyel also stated that he will be in charge of coordination and organization of congresses which will be held in Singapore at 2013, and Bologna city in Italy at 2014. He emphasized that during his position until 2016 he aims to have leading decisions on the development of both Turkey’s and North Cyprus’ tourism. He also stated that AMFORHT membership and election to the executive board shows the higher education and the quality of tourism education in GAU. And he stressed that aim of being World’s leading and taking place in Turkey’s first three universities has reached to a higher level.
