GAU: Our Goal Is To Make North Cyprus The Center Of Pilotage And Civil Aviation

Amongst the other TRNC’s universities GAU Girne Campus has started education with pilotage and civil aviation departments. According to the statement made by Aviation Academy, aviation sector needs 1 million trained personnel in the following 20 years and North Cyprus will become an important base for pilotage and aviation education.

At the GAU Girne Campus, Aviation Academy has leaded the way amongst other TRNC Universities by starting pilotage education in 2012—2013 academic year.

GAU will give education in aviation sector to 15 different branches other than pilotage education and 4 years of aviation education with international validity will be given in TRNC for the first time by GAU. And TRNC Nationality student application continues.
“Pilot and Flight Attendance Education and Certification Programs in 14 Branches will be applied in TRNC for the first time”

According to the statement made by GAU Aviation Academy, Aviation Certification and Education Programs will consist of PPL/AFA Coordinated Amateur Pilot Certification, CPL/AFA Coordinated Commercial Pilot Certification, ATPL/AFA Coordinated Air Transport Pilot License, Dispatching, Flight Attendance, Aviation Law, Airport Management, Airline Business, Aviation English, Aviation Meteorology, Flight Crew Resource Management, Aviation Management, Human Factor and Management In Aviation, Aviation Safety and Security, Total Quality Management in Aviation; Aviation Board and Rules.

In addition to Piloting and Cabin Assistance there will be 14 different profession groups related to aviation sector. And these education programs and certification courses will be held in GAU for the first time amongst other TRNC universities. Also courses will make important contributions for craft knowledge and language development of people who will continue to their profession in aviation sector in future.

Director of Aviation Academy Dr. Hakkı Doğankaya stated that with student applicants to 4 years of undergraduate education will be granted certificates supported from Atlantic Flight Academy (AFA) such as TC SHGM and JAR FCL approved PPL, CPL or ATPL licenses. He also said that GAU Aviation flight program’s base will be TRNC Ercan Airport.

According to Dr. Doğankaya after the alliance agreement between GAU and AFA, students who are graduated from the academy will be able to work in Atlasjet.

When GAU Aviation Program students become successful with undergraduate diploma they will be granted to PPL(A), CPL(A) or ATPL(A) pilot licenses subsuming FAR-FCL which is authorized by the Ministry of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications General Directorate of Civil Aviation. For the students who will start education in GAU, they will be granted to have valid pilot license with GAU-AFA cooperation and JAR-FCL extent. In GAU campus, directed to flight and motivation a detailed mock-up a flight simulator in world standards will be open to students from GAU Aviation Academy.

Also, according to Dr. Doğankaya GAU Aviation Administration Program has been accepted by YOK as “Civil Aviation Transmission Management” which is valid anywhere in the world.
