Important Agreement on Pilotage Education

GAU is first to Educate Pilots Among Other TRNC Universities

During the press conference organized in GAU Istanbul Campus, details about protocol between GAU and AFA have been released.

GAU Vice Chancellor Dr. Asım Vehbi made a statement: “As GAU we have implemented a project we were thinking for years. In our campus we have students from 68 different countries and 98 different departments. Pilotage Education is a really special education. To develop aviation sector, the need to have more numbers of pilots is increasing every day. We have decided to cooperate with correct education by academic and industrial means. We’ve got permission from YÖK. Aviation department was demanded a lot for our school and we are now excited about being the first among other TRNC universities.”

Sermed Temizkan expressed his opinions after Vehbi: “As AFA our school has the youngest squadron. After all, aviation education is very extensive and important education process. With this agreement we made an important step. Students who are having education in GAU may have pilotage education in AFA. As AFA we are the only flight school as an airline. Besides, pilot requirement for Atlasjet is completely fulfilled by AFA. An advantage like this is in question. We wish the best of luck.”

After the collaboration agreement between GAU and AFA, during the press meeting, following statements were made: students who are graduated from this program may work in Atlasjet and successful students won’t need to worry about unemployment. With the given education a pilot candidate may continue working in another airline company as well, and Atlasjet welcomes successful candidates.

With the signed protocol students who enter GAU Aviation program will be able to attend technical and flight education in AFA. If GAU students from Aviation Program become successful with undergraduate diploma,they will be granted to PPL(A), CPL(A) or ATPL(A) pilot licenses subsuming FAR-FCL which is authorized by the Ministry of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications General Directorate of Civil Aviation. For the students who will start education in GAU, they will be granted to have valid pilot license with GAU-AFA cooperation and JAR-FCL extent.
