Cultural Heritage Of Cyprus is Discussed in Detail in GAU

Girne American University (GAU) organizes the first architecture seminar of Spring Period on Friday 19th February, between 11.00 and 13.00 at GAU Millennium Senate Congress Hall.

The first architecture seminar of the spring period of GAU 2015-2016 Academic year, will be given by the lecturer of the Sapienza University of Rome Assist. Prof. Dr. Alessandro Camiz.

 

Cultural structures and art

 

Camiz made a statement about the seminar which will be organized with the thought that “All cultural structures that were built are the reflection of the human spirit. At the same time this is connected to material and non-material heritage.” She said that Cultural Heritage is not only about the stones and buildings for us. We aware that this value can be carried from past to future and it can bring light for us. The island of Cyprus is the crossroads of different civilizations and rich cultural heritage is found in this island. Cyprus Island has witnessed exceedingly this history.”

 

Preservation of the cultural heritage

 

The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage was established between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots within the scope of United Nations after 21th March 2008 Agreement, promotion of the agreement and preservation of the island’s rich and different cultural heritage is a subject of the seminar and this was indicated in the statement and it was indicated that advisory board consisting of archaeologists will support the works and architectures, art historians and urbanists from the both society were taken part. It was notified that the opening speech of the seminar will be continued with Assist. Prof. Dr. Alessandro Camiz and other 4 speakers.

 

Speakers

 

Takis Hadjidemetriou, Ali Tuncay, Glafkos Constantinides and Ali Kanlı will participate to the seminar as speakers and this seminar will be held in 19 February 2016, between 11.00 and 13.00 at GAU Millennium Senate Congress Hall.
