Nafiya Güden, head of the Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the Girne American University and the first Cypriot to become the Secretary General of the EURHODIP which is one of the most important institutions of Tourism Education in the European Union, stating that the EURHODIP activities and education would have a great impact on the tourism of the TRNC, declared that the EURHODIP conference in 2012 would be held in the TRNC.

Taking part in the Topical News Programme of the GAU TV, Nafiya Güden, pointing out that the Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the GAU had achieved the accreditation of the leading higher education accreditation institutions of the world such as YÖK, YÖDAK and TEDQUAL, and the membership of the international council for tourism education, stressed that the EURHODIP membership would constitute an important reference to the tourism of the country as well as the education of tourism and the higher education system.
“The TRNC Decision Was Discussed at the Morocco Meeting”

Pointing out to the fact that at the end of the Conference of the EURHODIP, an organization guiding the world tourism with 350 members from 40 countries, which was held in Morocco, it was decided that the 72nd EURHODIP Conference would be held for the first time at the Girne Campus of the GAU, Nafiya Güden said that this was an important issue for promoting the country and stressed that the 72nd Conference of the EURHODIP would convey important messages to the world. Saying that the Morocco Conference adopted important decisions on tourism education, Nafiya Güden stated that the aim of the EURHODIP is to enhance the quality of the education by providing guidance to the world tourism education.

Pointing out to the fact that the leading tourism organizations and universities of the world while working to guide the world tourism education within the activities of the EURHODIP they carry out the application of joint syllabi and projects which would improve the quality of tourism education, Nafiya Güden said that at the EURHODIP conferences which are held every year, distribution of duties would take place and the administrative board would be established only after the education programmes of the candidate country are surveyed and controlled by the EU education experts. She also drew attention to the importance of carrying out the application of the GAU education programme and syllabi in harmony with the EU which will play a significant role in the progress of students.

Güden, who also stressed that the students of the EURHODIP member universities were able to carry out their training and do their applied studies in 40 different countries, and having a chance to closely examine the concept of tourism in these countries, they would improve their knowledge of tourism, pointed out that the fact that the GAU students would have their training in important European tourism centres and students of other EURHDIP member countries would come to the TRNC, would be of great importance in promoting the county.

Nafiya Güden, who said that while carrying out her duty as the Secretary General of the EURHODIP she would use her experience and knowledge for the development of tourism in the country and lead the students of the GAU to the highest level of progress, stated that Girne American University presented a significant will power for the membership of the EURHODIP and its annual conference to be held in TRNC. She believed that this initiative of the GAU would contribute to the development of tourism of the country and making it known to the world, and alongside the GAU mission for the promotion of the country, it created a difference and a conscience.

Pointing out to the fact that holding the conference in the TRNC, was, from the point of view of development of the economy and tourism of the TRNC as well as making the country known to the world, an important achievement, and that tasks to be carried out would make significant contributions to the tourism of the country, Nafiya Güden stressed that the universal power of knowledge once again had broken the isolations.
