GAU is aiming to be the third Turkish University which has installed its own flight school (FTO) in Turkey after The University of Turkish Aeronautical Association and Anadolu University, while breaking another record among the Universities in Cyprus.

Girne American University is preparing to celebrate its 30th academic year, while it continues to put more strength to the country’s “Science Island” image by taking important steps in the aviation field, especially pilot training and sportive aviation, and completing the opening preparations of the first flight school (FTO) among Cyprus Universities.

In this context, New Generation (NG) will begin the pilot training with 5 single and multi-engine aircrafts and 2 simulators that are the best in their class.

In the statement which was made by GAU, it is emphasized that the aim of pilot training is to train the pilot candidates to the highest academic level, either in Turkey or globally, according to the regulations of national and international Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey. As specified in the statement, it is expressed that the training will begin at GAU Istanbul and GAU Girne Campus simultaneously with 4 new generation single engine cockpit aircraft, 1 new generation double engine glass cockpit aircraft and 2 single and multi-engine advanced FNPT aircraft simulators and for the first time a university that was established in the TRNC will be building a formation in such significance of world standards.

GAU invites the Pilot Candidates to become the "Master of the Skies" by training them to the standards of an Aviator Pilot with Academic education.

Also, in the statement, it was expressed that the necessary studies are in process for matters like the EASA approved overseas education, solution partners with training plane, the simulator, training materials and some studies have come to an end like the academic and modular pilotage training (PPL, CPL, ATPL, MCC) at international standards. It was underlined that with the slogan of “Three Continents, One University” and “The Master of the Skies”, GAU is ready to train the future aviation professionals by leading the way in the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC with YÖK (Higher Education Council) and YÖDOK approved “Civil Aviation Transportation Management- Undergraduate Program”, as well as the "Civil Aviation Cabin Services-Associate Degree Program” and “Pilotage-Undergraduate Program” at an approval phase.
