Study From GAU Students That Is To Light The Future

Many historical documents and photographs in TRNC Presidency Public Record Office and Research Department were transferred into the digital media by Girne American University (GAU) students as part of the “Community Service Practices” lecture.

 

In the study which was performed under the supervision of GAU Turkish Philology lecturer Zeki Akçam, after a well-performed work, students of Computer Teaching Department transferred many historical documents and photographs of TRNC Presidency Public Record Office and Research Department into the digital media.

 

Zeki Akçam who gave information about the study referred that “Many documents which have a historical importance were transferred into the digital media with our students. Among these documents, there are two Ottoman Turkish-Greek population registries (Approximately two thousand pages). Besides, two manuscripts (two thousand pages), various newspapers, rare books and photographs transferred to the digital media by being classified as before and after of 1974”

 

Akçam also stated that this study has a great importance and similar studies are planned to be continued in the future.
