LECTURERS DUTY

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

In accordance with the objectives and principles determined by the senior management of Girne American University,
the Faculty Member is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and improving all academic and scientific activities within the School in line with its mission and vision, ensuring that education and training are conducted effectively and efficiently.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Act in accordance with the objectives and principles stated in Articles 4 and 5 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.

  2. Participate actively in scientific, academic, and social activities organized within the School and the University.

  3. Submit all required information, reports, and documentation related to assigned courses, laboratories, or academic activities in a timely manner.

  4. Contribute to the preparation, revision, and planning of course contents and syllabi.

  5. Ensure that course programs and curriculum activities are conducted completely, accurately, and on schedule.

  6. Provide academic advising to students and assist them in adapting to their department and university environment.

  7. Obtain necessary approvals from the Department Head for any proposed changes in course or laboratory arrangements.

  8. At the end of each semester, review student course evaluation results and implement improvement actions accordingly.

  9. Perform other duties as assigned by higher education laws and university regulations.

  10. Continuously improve academic, linguistic, and intellectual competencies; contribute to extracurricular university activities and community service projects.

  11. Attend departmental and school meetings as required by the Department Head, and contribute to collective activities.

  12. Conduct and publish scientific research, articles, and projects in national and international contexts.

  13. Support the organization of national and international conferences, symposiums, and academic workshops.

  14. Ensure standardization and coordination among instructors teaching the same courses through regular meetings.

  15. Ensure the effective, economic, and efficient use of institutional resources.

  16. Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and progress, and provide academic support where needed.

  17. Contribute to departmental activities related to education, strategic planning, and performance evaluation.

  18. Participate in ERASMUS, FARABİ, and MEVLANA exchange programs and their academic activities.

  19. Provide guidance and academic support to students with disabilities and international students.

  20. Ensure timely and accurate submission of forms related to additional course payment procedures to the relevant units.

  21. Assist in the proper use, care, and maintenance of classrooms and facilities.

  22. Investigate and report to the Department Head the reasons for student absenteeism or academic failure at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  23. Submit an annual academic activity report to the Department Head at the end of each academic year.

  24. Adhere to the ethical principles of the University and actively support internal control and quality improvement activities.

  25. Perform other duties assigned by the Head of Division, Department Head, or School Director.


AUTHORITIES

  • Authorized to perform all duties and responsibilities listed above.

  • Authorized to use the necessary tools, equipment, and institutional resources required for carrying out assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. Must meet the general qualifications specified in the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the Civil Servants Law No. 657.
