JOB DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the goals and principles set by the senior management of Girne American University,
the Dean/Director of the School of Aviation is responsible for carrying out, planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising all activities of the School in line with its mission and vision, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform the duties assigned by the Law No. 2547 on Higher Education.
Chairs the School Academic Board, School Board, School Administrative Board, and School Disciplinary Board, ensuring that the decisions taken by these boards are implemented.
Ensures coordination among the departments and promotes effective and organized functioning of all School units.
Determines and shares the mission and vision of the School with all staff, motivating them to achieve these goals.
Ensures the preparation of the School’s annual analytical budget, together with its justifications.
Ensures the effective, economical, efficient, and lawful acquisition and use of movable properties; oversees their control, transparent record-keeping through the asset control officer, and submission of the prepared management account.
Prepares the School’s staffing needs and submits them to the Rectorate.
Conducts general supervision and oversight of all School units.
Establishes an information system within the School using digital platforms, ensuring that the required surveys for the information system are prepared and implemented.
Ensures the smooth continuation of education and training activities.
Develops policies and strategies related to education, training, and research.
Organizes training, seminars, and conferences for the academic and administrative staff, transforming the School into a continuously learning organization.
Ensures that School evaluation and quality improvement processes are carried out regularly.
Identifies and resolves problems related to the education system, and when necessary, reports them to higher authorities.
Monitors emerging trends and best practices in education and ensures their implementation within the School.
Ensures that research projects within the School are regularly prepared and maintained.
Oversees the necessary work for the accreditation of programs within the School.
Ensures the preparation of the School’s strategic plan.
Ensures the effective and efficient use of the School’s physical resources and human capital.
Ensures that all security measures within the School premises are taken.
Represents the School at the highest level. Provides an annual report to the Rector on the general status and operation of the School.
Performs other duties assigned by the Rector related to the field.
Ensures that activities under his/her responsibility are carried out in compliance with the internal control system’s definitions and instructions.
Acts in accordance with the principles of fiscal responsibility and resource efficiency.
Provides opportunities for subordinates to develop skills and experience for performing their duties more effectively and in line with the quality management system.
Performs other tasks assigned by the Rector.
AUTHORITIES
Holds full authority to carry out the duties and responsibilities mentioned above.
May use necessary tools and equipment to perform related activities.
Has the authority to represent Girne American University and to sign on behalf of the institution.
Possesses financial authorization to make expenditures.
Has the authority to assign, direct, monitor, correct, warn, and request information and reports from subordinates.
Has the authority to discipline, reward, evaluate, train, reassign, and approve leaves of subordinate administrators and personnel.
Has the authority to approve and finalize recruitment decisions regarding new staff to be employed by the institution.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
Must meet the general qualifications specified in Law No. 657 on Civil Servants and Law No. 2547 on Higher Education.
Must possess the necessary level of professional experience required for the position.
Must have leadership and managerial skills, and knowledge of supervision and administration.
Must have decision-making and problem-solving skills essential for effective performance of duties.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Director of the School is responsible to the Rector of Girne American University for performing all duties listed above in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
