FES CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – CELTA

Five of Foundation English School lecturers had the wonderful opportunity totake part in CELTA training programme just before the beginning of 2014 – 15 academic year. The CELTA course (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) is a Teacher Development programme covering both the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching English. The course involves Input sessions, 6 hours of teaching practice (observed by experienced tutors), supervised lesson planning, feedback on teaching practice, peer observation, tutorials, four written assignments and 6 experienced teacher observations. The lecturers expressed their opinions about CELTA as follows;

“From the 8th September to the 4th October 2014, we attended the Celta course at ITI in Istanbul, Turkey. On this course, we were introduced to different techniques and methods. We have worked on our strengths and weaknesses with our tutors. The course was very intensive but it was an effective experience for all of us."
EvremHoca, CananÇavuş and Bediz Çeliker

“I attended my Celta course at Oxford House College, near Oxford Street, from 18/08/14 to 12/09/14. It was a very informative 1 month intense course and I not only learnt a lot but I enjoyed it and met some nice people too. I feel lucky to have been taught by Ben Feben and Bobby Dunnet. I would recommend studying at Oxford House College to everyone.”
Cengiz Hasman
“I took the Celta course from 4to 29 August, 2014 at International Teaching Institute (Istanbul). Although I felt very stressed and overwhelmed during the course, I must say that it was very helpful and supportive for my future career. I learned many new teaching techniques and activities and now I apply them successfully in my classes. As a non-experienced new teacher I believe it helped me a lot, and I find it easier to control and to motivate the students.”
