Goal Is Championship In Turkey
Within the scope of GAU, Arm Wrestling sport club was founded during last academic year. And it has started preparations for the new season.
Arm Wrestling team sportive is continuing their practices in GAU Girne Campus Sport Complex and Fitness Center for bringing Turkey Championship to the nation. Arm Wrestling sportive have won successful degrees in international competitions of TRNC Weight Lifting and Body Development Federation national arm wrestling team.
Turkey Arm Wrestling Championship was organized in Eskişehir. National Team has returned from the competition to TRNC with bronze medal weighted 110 kilograms. For GAU students MacitOzaltan who won Third Place in Turkey has stated that they are proud of representing both TRNC and GAU in international competitions. He also said that GAU has blazed a trail again with adding arm wrestling to the structure of their sport club. He also thanked Head of Health, Culture and SportsDepartment TürkayAkpınar and Sport Coordinator MuzafferDoğgün for giving opportunity to prepare for competitions in world standard facilities.

TRNC Weight Lifting and Body Building Federation Secretary General Ali Dahlemaroğlu watched GAU Arm Wrestling team’s exercises on their site and visited Head of Health, Culture and SportsTürkayAkpınar.
Dahlemaroğlu thanked TürkayAkpınar for having 3 sportive from GAU to TRNC National Team and contributions of GAU to arm wrestling sport development. He also wishedstudents of GAU a continued success and gifted an Arm Wrestling Table to GAU Sport Club.

During the visitöHead of Health, Culture and Sports DepartmentTürkayAkpınar made a speech. He stated that with GAU’s sport federation and clubs, they are appending signatures to important project for nation’s sport development. He also added that GAU’s sport clubs representing both university and TRNC in national and international sport competitions with success.
In addition to nation’s sport,students from nation may become successful in fencing, saloon football, table tennis, tennis, handball, basketball and volleyball with the substructure and facilities based specifically in Girne, generally in TRNC. He also stated that Arm Wrestling team aims for bringing Turkey Championship to TRNC.
