Nicosia Ambassador to Turkish Republic Derya Kanbay received information by visiting the GAU Campus

  Nicosia Ambassador to Turkish Republic Derya Kanbay met with GAU Chairman of Board of Trustee Memduh Erdal and GAU Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Asım Vehbi, by visit the Girne American University. The visit of the Ambassador, who also made a brief examination on the GAU campus during his visit, was gladly welcomed.

The statement of Asım Vehbi

GAU Vice-Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi stated in the statement he made after the visit that: "Mr. Ambassador revealed his vision from the first day he took office by breaking the traditions we are accustomed to see, putting forward a different vision outside of his authority and recognizing the campuses by visiting the universities on-site." Vehbi then stated the followings;

"We are really glad"

 “I want to underline that we are really happy with this visit and being together by the vision of Mr. Ambassador that revealed the opportunities of inspecting the campus on-site and recognizing us. Unfortunately, our government officials and politicians weren`t able to reveal the vision Mr. Ambassador and the TR Aid Committee had revealed concerning the higher education."

Laboratories were introduced

Vehbi, who praised the former ambassadors and education counselors for always doing their parts on the development of academic and social activities concerning the Girne American University`s development, stated the followings: “"During the visit, the presentation of the campus together with GAU Delegation and laboratories and infrastructure facilities, which were realized with the contribution of the aid delegation and completed with GAU`s own facilities within the scope of the projects presented to TC Help delegation every year, has been introduced to the Ambassador. We realized the importance of these investments and projects made, when we consider that 75 percent of our University is composed of students from Turkey. Mr. Ambassador had the opportunity to get to know more about the vision of our University, the project it targets and its international vision.

Memduh Erdal presented plaques

GAU Chairman of Board of Trustee Memduh Erdal presented an appreciation plaque to Mr. Ambassador to commemorate the visit he demonstrated to our university and stressing that his participation and support is very important on behalf of the university and the higher education sector, wished him successes in his new position.
