                                    GAU Puts in An Appearence In World Science Forum
GAU Academician Assist. Prof. Dr. Simge Davulcu represented TRNC in the World Science Forum.
Being one of the 50 young scientists who were invited by the International Consortium of Research Associations (ICoRSA), Davulcu represented the GAU and TRNC in the 7th World Science Forum.
With the support of UNESCO and International Council for Science
Opening speech of the 7th World Science Forum, which was hosted by Hungarian Academy of Science and held in Budapest, was given by Secretary General of UN, Ban Ki-Moon.
In the Forum, which the young academicians, over 900 expert scientist from 100 different countries, policy and industry decision mechanisms of the world, civil society representatives and media were also invited, the contribution of science and scientific research in the global policies was discussed under the theme of ‘The Enabling Power of Science’.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Simge Davulcu participated in the Young Researchers Workshop, which was organized within the scope of the Forum and 17 sustainable development targets decided by UNESCO were discussed in, and made an “Education for Science” themed presentation. “Health for Everyone”, “Fresh Water Resources” and “Professions of the Future” topical presentations were also given in the workshop.
As a result of the forum which lasted for four days, a declaration about the important issues for the world such as “International Collaboration for the circulation in the developing world and capacity enhancement”, “Balanced Investment for Science”, “Scientific Advices for the Policies”, “Global Warming” and “Developing the Renewable Energy Resources” were presented to the Budapest parliament and the parliament members and scientists had an exchange of ideas. In his parliament speech, Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, thanked the scientists who attended to the World Science Forum for shaping the future of the world with their ideas and invited them to work harder for applying the scientific researches to technologic innovations.
Within the frame of her works in the Forum, Davulcu indicated that they have launched an initiative for the establishment of Cyprus Research Association which aims to gather Cypriot scientists together and they aim to attend the 8th World Science Forum, which will be held in Jordan in 2017, with the Cyprus Research Association.
