Dean's Message
Message from Prof. Dr. L. Ömür Demirezer, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Girne American University
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Girne American University has adopted the principle of training pharmacists with high scientific qualifications, adherence to ethical values, and a developed sense of social responsibility. Our graduates carry the justified pride of being Girne American graduates at every stage of their professional lives; they make a difference with their knowledge, competence, and demeanor.
Pharmacy is a distinguished health discipline shaped by the rigor of science, the weight of ethical responsibility, and the depth of love for humanity. In this faculty, not only medications but also the constantly evolving dynamics of the patient, society, and science are taught. Our most fundamental goal is to train pharmacists who build their profession on solid foundations by internalizing analytical thinking, questioning, and an evidence-based approach. Our aim is not only to impart theoretical knowledge to our students but also to provide society with healthcare professionals who research, produce, think critically, and do not compromise on ethical principles. The practical hours, clinical pharmacy training, and academic studies conducted in our modern laboratories will strengthen our students' professional competence and boost their self-confidence after graduation.
The education provided in our faculty covers a wide range of topics, from the properties of natural and synthetic drug raw materials to their pharmacological effects, toxicities, and pharmaceutical technologies. Our experienced, young, and dynamic academic staff continuously integrates current scientific developments into the program, equipping our students with the knowledge and skills required by the modern age.
The elective course system, implemented in line with the European Union harmonization process, allows our students to shape their academic orientations according to their areas of interest. The scientific and social events organized by the GAÜ Pharmacy Club develop our students' research culture and strengthen their teamwork and effective public communication skills. The patient-centered and problem-solving-based education model in the field of clinical pharmacy trains our students to be effective and indispensable members of the healthcare team. Our graduates successfully work in a wide range of fields, from private pharmacies to hospitals, from the pharmaceutical industry to public institutions, and from research centers to academic life.
We, as Girne American University Faculty of Pharmacy; We are determined to continue training pharmacists who contribute to science, add value to society, and prioritize human health above all else.
