Girne American University continues its 25th anniversary with conferences, interviews and social events with people and organizations that are famous in their areas.

A seminar was given by scientist, geophysicist and educator Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mete Işıkara, who is an expert on earthquakes, at GAU Karmi Campus International Congress Centre Spectrum Hall in order to teach the students of Girne American College (GAC) on earthquake and raise awareness on them.

Işıkara underlined that it was needed to adopt awareness of protection culture and make it generalize it to be prepared for earthquake at the seminar, in which children of Girne American College paid interest and he said “Instead of asking if earthquake will happen, we have to accept the truth that earthquake will happen and in order to minimize the damages of an earthquake, we have to become a community that will be prepared for earthquake.”

Combining how earthquake happens with slides and interviews of acclaimed comedians Cem Yılmaz and Beyazıt Öztürk, Ahmet Mete Işıkara both made the children laugh and he taught them.

Işıkara told the children that the earthquake danger hunt must be initiated at house with the participation of all family members and he highlighted that every place and room in the house must be visited, what can create danger should be forecast, the places where the family members spend a lot of time must be checked, these works should be made as a researcher and what should be done must be listed and should be followed until found dangers would be removed. GAU Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Olgun Üstün presented the 25th year badge to Ahmet Mete Işıkara after the seminar, which went educational.
