First in Cyprus, the International Design Workshop which is to be held in Girne American University will be attended by leading brand of the world in Architecture and Restoration- the Italian Rome Sapienza University and Rome Architecture, Planning, Landscape, Design and Restoration Institution under the title of Architecture and Restoration and under the subtitle of redesigning the Lambousa area.


Girne American University aims to contribute to both preservation of archeological and cultural heritage of Cyprus and the promotion of the country through the cooperative international design workshop amongst the Italian Rome Sapienza University and Rome Architecture, Planning, Landscape, Design and Restoration Institution which is to be held for the first time in Cyprus under the title of “Architecture and Restoration”.

 

North Cyprus Cultural Heritage and the Kingdom of Lambousa will be redesigned

 

Executed by Architecture Doctorate school Director of Rome Sapienza University- Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Strappa and Vice-Dean of GAU Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Hossein Sadri and scientifically directed by the member of the faculty of Sapienza University and Girne American University -Dr. Alessandro Camiz, the “Architecture and Restoration” workshop will be realized under the subtitles of reading and redesigning the Lambousa area.

Vice-Dean of GAU Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Hossein Sadri has stated that the International Design Workshop which is planned to be held between the dates of 19-29 November 2014 is  significant attempt as it aims to preserve the North Cypriot cultural heritage and restored by scientific methods accordingly to the original features.

  

Sadri also reported that Lapithos archeological field, Achiropitou Monastery and Eulalios Church areas will be benefited during the common international design workshop. Besides of post-graduate and doctorate students who study Architectural history and restoration, also it has been underlined that authorities of relevant institutions and civil organizations can also participate in the workshop.

 

Sadri finally remarked that due date for application is on 30 September 2014 and for those who want to attend to the workshop require to send pre-consent to hosseinsadri@gau.edu.tr email address. Sadri also emphasized that GAU will initiate a new period for the preservation Archeological and Cultural Heritages of Cyprus and the world and conveying to the next generations with the International Design Workshop.
