A Child Learns, A Country Changes

Girne American University, Faculty of Education and Early Childhood Education Department worked in collaboration with SOS Children's Village to raise social awareness and draw attention to the issue of children’s rights by holding a play called ‘Our Clouds’.

GAU College, 23 Nisan Primary School and Karaoğlanoğlu Primary school arranged for students aged 7-12 years, to perform the ‘Our Clouds’ play in the International Congress Centre Hall at Girne American University Kyrenia Campus.

The performance took place before GAU students of the Pre-School Education department and parents. The SOS Children's Village authorities distributed brochures, stickers, key chains, and other such materials to all those who attended the event. These materials were prepared by SOS Children's Village authorities about children's rights and will help raise awareness about these issues. The Head of the Pre-School Education department, Dr. Mehmet Toran, made a statement about children's rights and also about children’s rights to participate in activities with the purpose of creating awareness about social responsibility.

Dr.Toran stated that the GAU Pre-School Education section on children's rights and welfare of children should always assume the role of social responsibility and consider the best interests of children who take part in projects such as this. Girne American University has emphasized it is ready to help raise awareness on children's rights, child welfare, and help in the development of joint projects between all sectors and civil society organizations.
