Common Design Studios collaboration by GAU Architecture Department, METU and Mersin University under the Spring 2013/2014 Academic Year with academic collaboration of GAU Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Department.

GAU Members of the Architecture Department - Hassina Nafa and Hoda Yazdian who came together at the Mersin University in March under the junior studio course for Mersin University Architecture Department have conducted work with 25 students in a field located in Mersin. The live broadcasts and courses, which were held online and with the contribution of digital juries, was collaborated by GAU and Mersin University. Students of both universities have completed their projects entitled “Science Museum and Centre” and were welcomed in Girne American University for their end of semester exhibitions and judging.

The Head of Mersin University Architecture Department - Assist. Prof. Dr. Meltem Uçar and Chair of City and Regional Planning Department - Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Sarıkaya Levent have collaborated to assess the exhibitions and the judging for 50 students from both universities.

This studio was followed by a collaboration held by GAU and METU with junior and senior architecture student studios. Prof. Dr. Celal Abdi Güzer, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Mennan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lale Özgenel paid a visit to GAU in order to co-operate on the studio event which is to be held in March at the Lefkoşa Walled City and also at the Buffer Zone together with 70 students. Assist. Prof. Dr. Senem Zeybekoğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hossein Sadri met with junior architecture students to hold their judging in METU Architecture department.

The Walled-city Projects of GAU and METU students are to be exhibited in Lefkoşa

It has been announced by GAU Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Faculty that following the assessments which are to be collaboratively conducted in the Lefkoşa Walled City and at the Buffer Zone, the proposed projects will be assessed by the studio heads. Furthermore the common design studio which is to be held between GAU and METU will be exhibited in Lefkoşa.
