GAU 1st International Marine Sciences and Technology Symposium was held with the attendance of over 100 Scientists

The 1st International Marine Sciences and Technology Symposium which was held under the leadership of Girne American University (GAU) Mediterranean Underwater Research Centre with the co-operation of Çanakkale University and Çanakkale On Sekiz Mart University has come to an end.

The 1st International Marine Science and Technology Symposium held in Chateau Lambousa Hotel between 15th and 17th May started with the opening speeches of TRNC protocol and the participating universities protocol and aquatic sciences, advanced technology issues related to the adaptation of aquatic resources management and environmental impact issues were conveyed by the scientists who came from Europe, the Far East, and the four corners of the world.

Participants gave examples of the applications in different geographies and emphasized that the TRNC has a potential for the production of marine orientated products but the marine area should be investigated and sources should be identified at the same time. The conclusion which was reached was that the related literature should be kept constantly up to date and the scientists, who are experts in their own field, answered questions from the participants and shared their knowledge with the participants after their presentation.

On the second day of the 1st International Marine Science and Technology Symposium held at Chateau Lambousa Hotel, during the presentations conducted in two different halls, over 100 participants from mainly Turkey and other countries gave details of their work and found an opportunity to benefit from different perspectives of others at the question and answer session.

The participants stated their satisfaction from the event and gave some suggestions and criticism which would help to carry this organization to a more advanced point at the symposium evaluation meeting held at the end of the presentations.

The Symposium Gala Dinner was conducted with good participation after the presentations in the GAU Tourism Hospitality and Maritime Practice Facility, Camelot Beach Club and the scientific part of the symposium program was completed.

On the third day of the symposium, an historical and cultural trip was organized in order to introduce Kyrenia to the participants. The shipwreck in Kyrenia Castle and other different points that are important in terms of world maritime history were visited during the trip directed by guides.
