The 4th Art & Design Week which was organized by GAU Architecture, Design and Fine Arts Faculty, has commenced with the seminar of Cypriot Photographer - Kadir Kaba.

The Art & Design Week, which has been held under different titles annually; opened this year with the seminar of Kadir Kaba entitled "Random Access". The seminar which has received significant interest from both student and lecturers, continued with questions which were asked by students who shared the thoughts and experiences of Kadir Kaba.

The event which continued with the photographic exhibition entitled “Invisible Walls” of the senior Muhammet Nazif Özturk, who is a student of the Faculty of Architecture, shared photographs of Özturk compiled during the summer school of GAU Istanbul Campus in 2013 with photography lovers under the "Art & Design Week".

Also, Faculty Students showed significant interest in the workshop entitled “Quick Sketches with Ink” of Adi Atassi who is a Libyan painter. Students, who create their designs with free-hand drawings, experienced a different method by using a different ink than the usual.

Acting Head of GAU Graphic Design Department – Sibel Kemal Uzun stated that the 4th "Art & Design Week" exhibition which was held at the Faculty Exhibition Hall this year had a lot of benefits to the atmosphere of the Faculty. Uzun stated her satisfaction about the significant interest and contribution at the opening of the well-known artist - Sevim Erdal. Furthermore, Uzun stressed that "As I stated at the opening of the exhibition, Art and Design are the activities of a human life. Fiction that is based on design is the basis of life. Productions based on art ensure the development of the individual at a contemporary level. I think that similar events will increase the motivation of the Girne American University - Department of Painting and Graphic Design students.”

The last event of the “Art & Design Week” continued with Cypriot artist – Nurtane Karagil who described how an artist is influenced from the community and the process of creating a work by a video and a commune entitled “Happening Now” and ‘The everyday absurdities of being in this world”.
