Prime Minister İrsen Küçük has contributed for the opening of the second annual International Social Media Symposium held under GAU Communication Faculty.

Chairman of Board of Trustees Memduh Erdal, GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi, Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Olgun Üstün, Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olgun Çiçek, General Secretary Dr. Sualp Davut, Chair of Health, Culture and Sports Department Türkay Akpınar and also Faculty Deans and students have attended to the symposium realized in GAU Millennium Complex Senate Congress Center with the participations of nearly 50 scientists from TRNC, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

50 scientist will be presenting Social Media and Marketing, Social Media as a Method of Consumption, International Politics and Social Media, Social Media as a Threat to Freedom, Social Media as a Method of Auditing, Reflection of Social Media to our Psychological and Social Lives, Education and Social Media; A New Era in Education?, Is Journalism and Social Media/ Social Media and Journalism an “Evolution” of Literature?, Press Literature to Hyper Literature, Media and Technology during the 2 days of the  International Social Media Symposium to be held under the concept of Communication in Media New Freedoms New Threats Social Media Era following the opening speeches of Prime Minister İrsen Küçük, Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi,  Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner and Dean Communication Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı.



Prime Minister İrsen Küçük expressed his joy for welcoming international scientists in TRNC and also added that besides scientifically examining Social Media at GAU, the symposium will significantly contribute for the promotion of the country and finally thanked GAU authorities in regards.

Küçük stressed that social media and developing technology is enhancing development in democracy but yet social media productions the information is been violated and manipulated swiftly and also creating various risks and threats. In this sense the symposium organized by GAU is significant for thereof.

Dr. Asım Vehbi: “Social Media Dominates Modern Life”GAU CEO and Vice-Chancellor of Board of Administrators Dr. Asım Vehbi has stressed in his speech that Social Media is dominating every aspect of modern life and emphasized that the symposium organized by GAU Communication Faculty will contribute significantly to the social media concept.

Vehbi emphasized that GAU is greatly contributing for the highest standard of education possible. Vehbi also stressed that the symposium will significantly contribute for the student development and correct usage of social media as the opinion leaders of the future attending the international symposium of the social media which dominates the modern world and the individual.  Prime Minister thanked all those whom contributed for the realization of the symposium.

Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner:” We, on behalf of Science and Country, are honored to host International Scientists.”GAU Rector Prof. Dr. Öner emphasized his appreciations on behalf of the GAU Global science family in regards of hosting the scientist whom have honored the symposium. Öner also stressed that this would significantly contribute for the communication and social media.

Prof. Dr. Öner also thanked Prime Minister Küçük for his contribution following his emphasis on the significance of media and social media upon education and daily life.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı: “Societies are facing an era in which Social Media Dominates over Life of Modern Individual through using Freedom and Threats”Dean Communication Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı stated in her speech that societies are facing an era in which social media dominates over life of modern individual through using freedom and threats. Saygılı also emphasized that a realization of such organization is a must duty upon the Faculty in respect to examine the effects of social media in an international symposium. Saygılı also stressed that the young generation is facing a stream of incorrect data. Finally she further stated that the symposium will further contribute for the development of students and social media studies.

Following the speeches Chairman of GAU Board of Trustees Memduh Erdal has presented Prime Minister Küçük a plaquete of appreciation for his contributions on behalf of GAU Global Science Family. The symposium will be ending after the panel held for the second day.
