The Results for GAU 7TH Short Film Contest is to be Announced

The results for the 7th Inter-Higher schools Short Film contest organized by GAU is to be announced by the jury committee formed by Altıoklar, Osman Alkaş, GAU Dean of Communication Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı,  Head of GAU Radio Tv and Cinema Assist. Prof. Dr. İzlem Alikanlı, Columnist of Kıbrıs Gazette Ahmet Tolgan , Director for BRTK Cemal Yıldırım , Produces and Presenter for BRTK Eralp Adanır and Theatric Actor Erol Refikoğlu.

Following the announcement of the result on 12th of April 2013 Friday at 15:00pm in GAU Cyprus-Girne Campus Millennium Complex Senate Congress Center an award of honor will be presented to Osman Alkaş by the Faculty of Communication for his contributions in Turkish Cypriot Cinema and also a panel will be held by Mustafa Altıoklar and Osman Alkaş during the program.

Dean of Communication Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı has announced that the ranking competitors will win prizes respectively for their work under the categories of documentary and drama: 1st place; 100% scholarship at GAU Canterbury Campus for English Foundation Education (1Year) or Canon 60D body+Tamron 17-50 mm lens and film production eqipments. 2nd place; 50% scholarship at GAU Canterbury Campus for English Foundation Education (1Year) or Macbook Pro 13inch Core i5. 3rd place; 25% scholarship at GAU Canterbury Campus for English Foundation Education (1Year)  or Canon 600D + Canon 18-55mm lens. Saygılı also stressed that significant opinion leader of cinema, culture and art will be arriving GAU as guests.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı phrased that inter-high school short film contests are been held annually for discovering the directors and cinema-men of the future, encouraging those youngsters whom are interested in cinema and contributing in the visual arts. Initially Turkey, competitive works had participated in the contest from other countries. Saygılı also emphasized that discovering and encouraging youngsters will contribute for the promotion of the country as well. GAU has announced that the event will be open to public.

Bibliographies of Osman Aktaş and Mustafa Altıoklar are as below:Osman Alkaş born on 3rd of November 1955 in Lefkoşa. He completed his primary, secondary and highschool in Lefkoşa respectively. After his high school graduation he attended Ankara State Conservatoire Department of Acting in 1973-74 academic years. He graduated in 1976.

Later returning to Cyprus in on June 1976 Alkaş has established the Theater of Lefkoşa Municipality with the ratification of Municipality Assembly of Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality on 3rd of November 1980 with Yaşar Ersoy, Işın Cem and Erol Refikoğlu. He yet is situated under this theater.

As well as presenting programs in Bayrak Radio he also presented programs of children, woman, morning, food and radio advertisements. He commenced in television sector with Tolgay Tarıman. After progressing advertisement films with Tarıman, Alkaş contributed in the making of the Torba (1994) program together with Tarıman. Following the popularity of the program amongst the Turkish Cypriots together with Tarıman they decided to act independent and founded a TV channel called Tempo TV.

Alkaş characterized Mustafa in the TV series- Gimme 8- produced in 2001 together with Cypriot Greek, Turkish and other nation actors for 8 episodes and also conducted as scriptwriter. Acted in Gölgeler ve Suretler (Shadows and Faces) which was produced in 2010 and screened in 2011. He charecterized “Veli” in the movie.     He has been charecterizing Ekrem Tatlıoğlu in the series of Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman kisince 2010. He also acted in Hi! Am Erica of Yannis Yoannu and various other short films. Alkaş also acted in the opera called Saraydan Kız Kaçırma. Beside his acting career Alkaş also conducts in Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality as the Coordinator of Culture & Art. He was granted the award of “Success and Peace Award” by Satirigo Theater in 2009.

Mustafa Altıoklar born in Ordu Ünye in 1958. His father was expert on physical therapy and rehabilitation and mother was a teacher. Father was from Konya while his mother from Ordu Ünye. Due to their separate regions of work they had had experienced a disorderly life. Mustafa Altıoklar had lived in a village house with his uncle in Ünye until his primary school age. His family had united in Ankara during the years of his primary school. He is uncle to Sarp Levendoğlu.

He graduate the College of Ankara in 1976. He commenced his university in Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1977 later diverting and graduating from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1984 as Physiotherapist. After graduation he conscripted as a physiotherapist and rehabilitation expert for two years in Uzunköprü-Edirne. He then returned Ankara for his specialization on physiotherapy in Gazi University. Later he served in Gazi University as doctor in 1995. Later he resigned from his occupation in order to be able to film “İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında”. He has worked as part-time doctor in Osmanoğlu Hospital until the year of 2001. Then respectively he served in Osmanoğlu Clinic and Alman (German) Hospital.

He was a politic oriented student during his years in Medicine Faculty of Hacettepe. He served in Student Committee of Hacettepe Medicine Faculty. In the same period he gave up playing basketball and acted as a coach due to his back problems. Due to his coachship in Galatasaray Basketball Team he transferred his studentship to Medicine Faculty of Cerrahpaşa where he graduated.

He filmed "Denize Hançer Düştü" in 1992, "İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında" in 1995, "Ağır Roman" and "Asansör"  in 1999 and Banyo in 2005.
